2016 Empreinte Sauvignon Blanc McGah Family - Fayard Wines

Reviews

93+ Antonio Galloni, Vinous

The 2016 Sauvignon Blanc McGah is a super intriguing wine. Deep and phenolic, the 2016 has tremendous structure allied to its expressive varietal notes. Lemon confit, tangerine, mint and honeyed notes all flesh out in this ample, richly textured Sauvignon Blanc. Tropical inflections grace the finish. Readers should plan on opening the 2016 in advance to allow a slight hint of reduction to blow off. This is a very fine white from Empreinte and Julien Fayard. The 2016 was vinified and aged in 100% new 300-liter barrels.

In the heart of Rutherford, the McGah Vineyard produces one of the most refined Sauvignon Blancs of Napa Valley. Fresh aromatics, bright and lush, the wine is aged in 100% new French oak for 18 months. The aromatic persistence of the Sauvignon Blanc character keeps developing over time as the wine ages.
