Julien Fayard 2020 Platt Vineyard Chardonnay Sonoma Coast

This vintage is the first release of Julien Fayard Chardonnay from Sonoma’s Platt Vineyard, a renowned Sonoma Coast site that perches on a coastal ridge above the fogline just a few short miles from the Pacific Ocean. Elegant in its restraint, the 2020 offers aromatic complexity with a whisper of unknowable mystery. Notes of toasted brioche, dark vanilla and savory caramel mingle with swirls of fresh apple, almond paste and lanolin. In the mouth, the wine delivers the bright burst of Pink Lady apple and preserved lemon with a clean minerality, rounded and enriched by French oak. Sleek and slippery textures carry the wine into a spicy finish of white pepper, allspice and baked apple.
